India is made up of 29 states; each state uses its own distinctive blend of spices in its cooking, reflecting the landscape and climate they came from. In the north, wheat grows in abundance, and warming aromatic spiced dishes are served with a wide variety of bread. The staple crop of the southern states is rice, which is used to complement lighter dishes, often laced with coconut. Bengalis eat a lot of fish, and one of their delicacies, called the ‘hilsa’, is spiced and cooked wrapped in pumpkin leaf. Another striking ingredient of Bengali cooking is mustard oil and panch puran, a blend of five spices.

Our range of pastes encapsulates the many tastes of India, some of which you won’t find in any restaurant. So if you have a passion for Indian cooking, but don’t have the time, try some. If there is a dish from the subcontinent you particularly like, get in touch, and we’ll make the right paste up for you. If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to contact us. Nanima’s Kitchen aims to bring into your home all the taste of good Indian food with none of the hassle.
