Quick and easy Nan
Tandoori nans, a popular bread found in all Indian restaurants, is a specialty from the Punjab. This simple recipe makes instant nans, and you don't need a tandoor to cook them in.
Ingredients
300g Self Raising flour
1 tbsp natural yogurt
1 tsp salt
200 ml tepid water
Butter for brushing
Cooking Instructions
1. Sieve the flour and salt into a mixing bowl
2. Add the yogurt and mix together, gently add enough water to make a dough
3. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and set aside in a warm place for 3-4 hours
4. Heat a baking tray in an oven set at 240 degrees centigrade, or as hot a you can get it.
5. Knead the dough and divide into 8 equal parts
6. On a floured surface roll out the nan into triangle shapes.
7. Put the nan onto the hot tray and put the tray into the oven, keep watching, once the surface begins to blister the nan is done.
8. Take out and brush with butter, repeat until all the nans are cooked, to keep them warm wrap them in a clean cloth, wrapped in foil.
